This study came out of my own need to understand sexuality. Note that I did not say 'sex', I said 'sexuality'. Sex is a gender or an act. Sexuality is an attitude which permeates everything we do as human beings. Every cell in our body is human, but it is also genetically male or female. This makes a difference in the way men and women approach things. Why do stereotypical males play cards in the basement with a single overhead light, cigars, and beer, when stereotypical females play cards upstairs with party favors and hors d'oeuvres? Why did it take me five minutes to even look up the spelling for hors d'oeuvres? Why don't they call them horse dervies so I can spell it? Why aren't men invited to baby showers and why don't women get wet when they go? Finally, why do women have cat fights and why do men have brawls? All these things are expressions of sexuality. As I was attempting to sort this all out, I was considering the effects of sin (getting things mixed up for non-religious people) on human sexuality. How could I separate out the normal differences between men and women from arbitrary cultural mandates? The Bible has a wealth of information to be mined if one will just take the time to look for it. In the 50's the marriage theme from most pulpits was 'wives submit'. Since then it has changed to 'husbands love'. Did the Bible change in those few decades? Of course not. What did change was the emphasis demanded by the current culture. My intent is to simply expound upon what the Bible says and offend everyone equally. So, if you want a straight forward presentation of a Biblical perspective on sexuality and how this connects to marriage, you've come to the right place. I guarantee you that much of the information presented here will be new to your eyes. I do not do warmed over studies where I re-hash other people's work. Once you have read the book, it then becomes your responsibility to decide what to do with the information. I wish you well.
