T his book is a chronological walk through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation noticing some of the many promises that God has made and the conditions required to fulfill those promises . Some conditional promises are very clear like when the Lord appeared to king Solomon. He said, "If my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land." If the Israelites met the conditions they would reap great benefits. Not all promises have the conditions and the promises so directly connected. The u nconditional p romises do not require that we meet some conditions. For example: Jesus said " E very careless word that men shall speak, they shall have to give account for on the day of judgment. For by your words you shal l be justified, and by your words you shal l be condemned." Mt. 12:36- 37 That promise dose not depend upon us meeting some conditions. God has said, That is the way things are going to turn out. It does not depend on us. However we can look down the road and see what is up ahead and confess our sinful speech and be forgiven, but we cannot stop that judgment from happening. 2 Cor. 5:10 says, " For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that every one may receive the things done while in his body, according to what he ha s done, whether it be good or bad." How we do at th at judgment is a different mater. We can change the outcome by turning to Christ for the forgiveness of ours sins and by serving him, but we " must all appear." The book is divided into 65 sections to look at different promises and actions that God took and how people fit into God's great plan. 1 Cor 10:11 is a key verse. It says, " Now a ll these things happened to them as examples, and they are written as warnings for us on whom the ends of the world are come." We look at those people who lived long ago, and if we are wise we will do as well as they did or better.
