I grew up having some serious questions about the old Bible stories. I wondered when the stories happened in relationship to each other. Did Noah build his ark and embark on a sea journey in the desert before Samson's liaison with a prostitute led to his demise or after? When was the great Exodus, the fall of Sodom and Gomorrah, the battle of Jericho and the slaying of Goliath? I also wondered if the tales were simply too fantastic or too horrible to be true. Might they be no more than the illogical imaginings of unsophisticated people who didn't understand the laws of nature? Finally, the authenticity of the so-called miracles bothered me. The aim of this book is to take a closer look at each story with an eye to discovering how the miracles might have actually occurred.
