The New Testament for Everyman (and Woman)

You may not automatically think of the Bible as literature, but it definitely is. Further, there are distinct differences in tone and approach between the New and Old Testaments and among the books that make up each of the two main divisions. Buckner B. Trawick assesses all 27 books of the New Testament, telling us in his analysis who the likely authors and sources are for the material, and placing each book in its proper historical and geographical contexts. This is no mean feat. The context goes a long way toward erasing the problems people sometimes have with the contemporary interpretation of language and social matters. While it helps to be already somewhat familiar with the New Testament, it is not essential. Trawick helps readers understand the content of the New Testament by analyzing books, and comparing and contrasting the accounts, in such overall themes as the Parables, Miracles, the Discipleship of Women and several other key topics. This is a highly readable work that anyone interested in one of the major faiths should own.
