BIBIIRE is the second in the series of The Book of African Proverbs by the Yoruba: Abeni's Collection following AYELABOLA.

Each of the 201 proverbs compiled in the book, Bibiire, begins with the second letter of the Yoruba alphabet, 'B'.

Each proverb is translated to English language to extend understanding of the proverbs to a larger audience.

The title, Bibiire, is derived from a Yoruba proverb that emphasizes the significance of pedigree and how having pedigree is only possible by the foundation of a person's parents or predecessors.

Pedigree cannot be earned by oneself but only established for one's children or descendants.

Therefore, whatever a person is or does also defines their children and descendants.

Bibiire is presented in simple sentences and the English translations further unveil the meaning to those who are not so versed in Yoruba language.
