Biaxial Compressive Buckling of Laminated Plates (Volume One)

New numerical results are generated for compressive biaxial buckling. The first mode of buckling loads was considered. It is observed that the buckling load increases continuously with increasing aspect ratio but the rate of increase is not uniform. This may be due to the effect of bending - extensional twisting stiffness which increases the critical load. The buckling load is maximum for clamped - clamped, clamped -simply supported while minimum for simply- simply supported boundary conditions. This means that as the plate becomes more restrained, its resistance to buckling increases. The reason is that the structural stiffness reduces due to partially or totally restrained end supports. The aim of the present textbook was to review the importance of studying buckling of composite laminated rectangular plates from the point of view of introduction and basic definitions, the formulation of mathematical modelling of rectangular laminates, the numerical method for predicting the buckling loads and shape modes of buckling of laminated rectangular plates, studying the effect of aspect ratio, and finally the important results and findings of the present study.
