I have been moved to write this book as a way of contributing my quota towards the attainment of freedom and independence for the good peoples and individuals of Biafra. After watching and observing with keen interest for many years, how men and women of the defunct nation have sacrificed their lives and property for this noble cause, I asked myself: how can I also contribute? Being a writer, my mind told me that it would be noble and an enduring legacy if I could write a book to challenge the Nigeria's cruelty against the Biafrans (especially the Igbos), to salute the courage of those who have put their lives on the line that all Biafrans may live, to inspire those who are yet to join the independence struggle, and to convince those who are still in opposition to the idea of having a state free from Nigeria. Biafra declared independence in 1967, because its people were hated, oppressed, attacked, and massacred; more than 50 years after the war that brought it back to Nigeria, its people are still hated, oppressed, attacked, and massacred. Nothing has changed. Hence, the oppressed should have no option but to fight for their survival. It is only with Biafra as a free nation, that its peoples and individuals shall be free.
