Beyond the Maker's Map
The Map gave nothing. The fever room still needed hands.
When a summons arrives from Ashwater Mercy-House, the Great Map gives no answer.
No silver road. No black witness. No retained name. No holy mark to prove the need is real.
Only rough cloth, winter weathering, and a message from beyond the safe roads:
Send mint. Send oil. Send barley. Send feet.
For the House of Witness, mercy without a sign is dangerous. It cannot be categorized. It cannot be verified. It cannot be protected from fear, politics, or the memory of the false road Elya Renn once made when no road had appeared.
But children are sick in Hollow of Lamps.
The mint will last six nights. The frost channels may close in two. The House's safest rule requires a three-day hold.
Delay has become a decision.
Then Nia Solen hears the line no adult can safely dismiss: someone beyond Lastmark still remembers the old mercy turns.
Maybe her brother walked there.
Maybe the Map's silence means nothing.
Maybe faith was never meant to wait until obedience felt safe.
To answer the summons, Elya, Nia, Sera, Oren, and the others must cross beyond the last trusted road into a place no category can hold. There, mercy is not silver on a wall. It is wet bread, fever cloth, lamp oil, cold hands, and the terrible choice to move before proof arrives.
And beyond the Maker's Map, they will learn that some roads do not appear until someone has already started walking.
Beyond the Maker's Map is a clean Christian fantasy about rescue, unanswered prayer, embodied mercy, and the kind of faith that acts before certainty gives permission.
Perfect for readers who love lyrical fantasy, spiritual stakes, found family, dangerous journeys, and stories where hope is not easy-but still walks.
