This book not only provides practical advice to recovering addicts and their families, but is filled with encouragement. Yes, it says, you CAN get free (or help another person get free) of addictive substances. It helps the reader achieve his or her own successes, but it doesn't stop there. It helps recovering addicts and their families make it through the tough times, too, never losing sight of the goal at the end of the road: freedom.The author's perspective reflects many many years of working with real people who have real struggles. Often, you feel like you are in his office (or his living room, or sitting beside him at the beach or a park) having a heart-to-heart talk. His writing style is very personal. At the end, you feel as if you have found a friend.Highly recommended!
