Beyond the Cave: A Middle Grade Fantasy Adventure

By M. S. Chaudhary

Three orphaned brothers. One calcifying world. A choice that will either break them-or save everything.

For brothers Leo (17), Jax (19), and Toby (15), the hike into Blackwood Valley was supposed to be one last adventure before college, careers, and adult responsibilities pull them apart. But when they slide through a collapsed tunnel and step through a colossal, runed obsidian archway, they find themselves in Sylvaris-a breathtaking gold-green forest canopy where gravity is light, the moss glows underfoot, and giant trees grow wider than houses.

But this paradise is dying.

A grieving father from Earth named David has locked the entire forest in a petrifying stasis called The Still Path. Believing that removing choice is the only way to protect people from loss, he is transforming the forest's inhabitants into stone statues-trapped inside frozen smiles, safe from change, but stripped of all freedom.

To find their way home, the brothers must align their unique strengths:

Leo, the analytical mapper, must learn to close his charts and trust the unmappable.Jax, the hot-tempered fighter, must discover that true strength is a shield to shelter, not a weapon.Toby, the empathetic heart, must absorb the weight of an entire world's silent grief-even if it costs him his own voice.

When the Spire's calcifying rot strikes and Toby steps into the energy surge to shield his family, Jax and Leo refuse to run. Wrapping their arms around Toby, they choose to freeze beside him rather than live apart. Witnessing this unbroken bond of chosen family, David is forced to confront the truth: love cannot be forced, and safety without freedom is a prison.

Perfect for fans of Colin Meloy's Wildwood, Patrick Ness's A Monster Calls, and Brandon Mull's Fablehaven, BEYOND THE CAVE is an unforgettable, heart-pounding adventure about brotherhood, courage, and the power of choosing to stand together.
