In Darwinian thinking about natural history, however, we hold to a view of continuity over discreteness. But what if change in natural history is discreet? What if biodiversity is an initial condition and not the result of gradual, continual change? Beyond 'Origin' is an attempt to revolutionize our view of natural history by building a coherent philosophical framework within which a replacement for neo-Darwinian macroevolutionary theory becomes plausible.
