The book "Beyond Oil: Towards an Ecological Future" explores the environmental challenges posed by our dependence on hydrocarbons and proposes solutions for a sustainable future. Through the various chapters, we have examined the environmental impacts of hydrocarbon extraction, the consequences for the climate and global warming. We have explored alternatives to hydrocarbons, such as renewable energies, and discussed emerging technologies for a successful energy transition. In addition, we looked at innovations in the oil industry, initiatives to reduce the environmental footprint of refineries and the preservation of ecosystems. Societal and political challenges linked to dependence on hydrocarbons were addressed, as were the policies and regulations needed to promote sustainable alternatives. Individual commitment was emphasized, with suggestions for daily gestures to reduce our carbon footprint, and the importance of environmental education and awareness was highlighted.
