Beyond My Smile Shatters the silence of child sex abuse and exhibits the ideal of a warrior who never gave up fighting. I wrote this book to elucidate the awareness of sexual abuse, mental illness, and neglect. A plethora of stories remain unspoken or overlooked. I ultimately decided that I would no longer bear this burden. I would like to share my story of eight years of sexual assault at the hands of my step-grandfather. My book will provide readers with a profoundly insightful look into what it's like to coexist with a rapist. I want to use my story to inspire others to speak up, find their voice, and not be reluctant to share their story.
