The year is 1850 and Chatam House had already been saved twice from bankruptcy by David and his tenacious but beautiful wife Sophia. Her sister Kate has caused her alarm in the past by her apparent weakness of will, but Sophia is determined to put things right for her; however Kate has a surprise in store for her. From the shores of the West Indies a new villain, Traverne, stretches his evil hand out, greedily grasping for more spoils from the estate of Chatam House.
