Originally published under the title Muriel at Metropolitan, the novel was for some years banned (on the grounds of language derogatory to Afrikaners) even as it received worldwide acclaim. It was later issued in the Longman African Writers Series, but has for some years been out of print and unavailable. This Broadview edition includes a new introduction by the author describing the circumstances in which she wrote Between Two Worlds.

Wrong Book

This is deceiving. It says by Miriam Tlali and yet I revived a Korean high school love novel with the same title but a different author— a whole different book. I’m only now realizing it when I need to start reading the book for class. I’ve never had an issue with this site until now. I’m glad and mad to see that someone else had the same issue before me.

I did not receive Miriam Tlali's Between Two Worlds

I was sent a novel by a 10 year old writing a self insert fan fiction between her and Webtoon characters as opposed to the harrowing novel by Tlali about living within the hopeless period of South Africa during the Aparthied. I am disappointed with the incredibly predatory choice to sell that book under a different author's name - especially considering the vadtly differemt subject matter. My rating is exclusively for the ACTUAL novel, I will not be reading the one I received and I will be buying the real book elsewhere.
