Over the course of two years, the young couple survive hurricanes, Mardi Gras and boating accident on Lake Pontchartrain. This is no simple happy romance, although in some cases important breakthroughs allow the survivors to achieve fulfillment. People grow, some good people hurt others or are hurt themselves, in some cases irreparably, but it's worth it. It deals with young relationships in ways that reflect what happens when grappling with the mystery of life together. Nonetheless, it is imbued with humor and steeped in pathos.
