This book held me and would not let me go. The sermons herein are great pieces of literature their gospel cadence and rhythm notwithstanding. Captivating and full of the stuff of Black history and culture. Both inspirational and instructive.

Great collection of helpful sermons

I first read this collection of sermons while a student at New York Theological Seminary in the early eighties. The sermons are stimulating, colorful, practical and most of all inspirational. Any preacher interested in the contributions of black expositors should find this collection useful and rewarding.
