Where will artificial intelligence lead mankind? A society governed by artificial intelligence and robots will bring our civilization to self-destruction. This is not a typical space travel science fiction story, but a philosophical allegory on the possible future of our own civilization if we allow it to continue along its current course by giving more power to artificial intelligence to control our society. Astronauts arrive on an unknown planet and find a technologically advanced city covered by a protective dome. The city is populated by apathetic and vacant human-like creatures who are provided with everything they could need in life and are controlled by automated computer systems. The inhabitants mostly communicate and interact with a virtual world rather than with their actual neighbors. This city was built by their ancestors who developed a technologically advanced civilization, the responsibility for which they left to computers and robots. However, the absence of challenges in the inhabitants' lives resulted in the intellectual degradation of the successive generations and turned them into apathetically indifferent and ignorant creatures. The astronauts face a moral dilemma of whether to intervene in the inhabitants' futures, and they deliberate the consequences of bringing them back to life with dignity and self-responsibility.
