Benefit Prior To Man

Neo-liberalism is the economic and social paradigm of our time - it defines the policies and processes by which a handful of private interests acquire the right to control all that is possible in social life in order to maximize their personal Benefits. Initially associated with Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher, it has been, for twenty years, the dominant economic-political current in the world, taken up by all political parties, right, center, and often the traditional left. They thus represent the immediate interests of extremely wealthy investors and less than a thousand very large corporations.
Yet, outside of certain academic circles and of course the business community, the term remains largely unknown to the general public, especially in the United States. Neo-liberal initiatives are presented as a policy of free markets that encourages private enterprise, allows consumers to choose freely, and rewards individual responsibility and entrepreneurship while undermining the action of incompetent governments.
