Whole worlds are overlooked. Beneath our feet lies a cosmos as magical and mysterious as the stars above. We do not see many of the simpler things in life, much to our loss. Often, it takes a fellow human to point out to us the wonders that we live with, yet without, every day. These photos are an attempt to show the underlying beauty present all around us. From the undergrowth to the sky, this is a celebration of what we all see. Whitman, in "Leaves of Grass," glorified the common, the taken for granted. There are no distant climes or rare species here. All images are of New Jersey, a surprisingly exotic place-that is, when one takes a closer look.
