Great story line/ loved it

After reading 3 really great books: The Winter Sea, Shadowy Horses and Firebird by this author I felt some other of my recent reads by her fell flat. All had good stories but somehow the writing did not hold me firm to the book. Bellwether, on the other had was a joyful read! The characters, history, plot just held me and I read it in a day & a half! I so need to read it again (and I did re-read parts over!). What I want to know though is with all of the "history" explored why was there no "history" of the Van Hoek name? Did I miss that some how? Being of Dutch origin I was curious! But I truly loved how all the "families" continue on in present day, esp the Boudreau family!
