"Being, Volume I" is the first of the "Being" book series of poetry and philosophy on consciousness, love, nature, life, death, happiness, being human, and the oneness of the Universe by Aris the Yogi. The verses of "Being" represent ever-ongoing spiritual work and efforts to transform into language realizations received through yoga and philosophy that they may be helpful to the self-discovery and happiness of others. Aris the Yogi is a philosopher of nature and consciousness and a practitioner of yoga and meditation. He received his Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder, a Master of Science in Environmental Policy from Bard College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy Honors and Government from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a Certified Yoga Teacher in the lineage of Shambhava Yoga, with training in asana, pranayama, meditation, teaching methods, yogic philosophy, anatomy, and Sanskrit, and received his certification from ShambhavAnanda Yoga Shoshoni in Rollinsville, Colorado. He served as an Adjunct Professor of Environmental Philosophy at Colorado State University and an Instructor of Environmental Studies and Writing at the University of Colorado Boulder. He began practicing yoga, meditation, and philosophy in 2007.
