Being People of the Promise

By Brian Doebler and Matthew Doebler

This engaging volume in the People's Bible Devotions series covers the books of Joshua, Judges, Ruth, and 1 & 2 Samuel, a nearly 440-year history of God keeping his promises to his people. From the time of Joshua to King David, God was preparing his people's hearts. He was setting the stage to fulfill the promise he made to their forefather, Abraham: "all peoples on earth will be blessed through you" (Genesis 12:3), a promise that pointed the descendants of Abraham by blood--and us, descendants by faith--to Jesus. As you meditate on these devotions, ask yourself, "What does it mean to be a people living with the promises of God? What confidence do those promises give?"
