Being God: Global Metaphysics proposes a philosophical synthesis founded on the conviction that reality cannot be adequately understood when knowledge is divided into isolated territories. Theology, metaphysics, ontology, epistemology, science, literature, history, politics, ethics, and art approach different dimensions of a reality that remains one. Hugo No l Santander Ferreira therefore restores philosophy's ancient aspiration to contemplate the relationships between things and the totality within which they acquire meaning.
The "global" character of this metaphysics is fundamentally epistemological. Reason, observation, memory, imagination, intuition, dreams, artistic creation, and metaphysical speculation participate in the human endeavour to understand reality. Scientific knowledge itself reveals this plurality: before a hypothesis can be demonstrated, it must first be conceived. Charles Sanders Peirce's abduction-the operation through which a new explanatory possibility emerges-provides a foundation for understanding imagination and intuition as creative forces within knowledge.
Three complementary treatises develop this philosophical architecture. You Are GOD: Theology examines our participation in the Good and places ethical action at the centre of theological enquiry. You Are the Universe: Metaphysics explores consciousness as a manifestation of the cosmos itself: when human beings imagine, discover, calculate, create, or contemplate reality, an act of knowledge occurs within the universe being known. You Are Immortal: Ontology investigates the continuity of Being through memory, consciousness, culture, human relationships, and experiences that transcend the isolated biological individual.
The project reaches its artistic expression in The Arcadia Symposium: An Auto de Fe on the Immortality of the Soul, where philosophers, poets, dramatists, saints, and spiritual figures from different centuries continue their enquiry through dramatic dialogue. Art becomes another instrument of metaphysical investigation.
Being God ultimately presents theology, metaphysics, and ontology as three dimensions of a single human condition: participation in the Good, participation in the universe, and participation in the continuities of Being. Global Metaphysics seeks synthesis after analysis, restoring communication between disciplines and recovering philosophy's vocation to embrace the totality through reason, imagination, intuition, experience, and creation.
