Being a Teacher: Internship in Geography and New Information Technologies

Teachers face enormous challenges, especially in geography, where they must give meaning to the subject's curriculum while making lessons more attractive to students. To this end, we sought to understand the contributions of new information and communication technologies (NICTs) as a teaching resource that facilitates the teaching/learning process in geography in the face of these challenges. In this sense, the needs and resources available to students were investigated during the supervised internship period in order to highlight the potential of using NICTs as a teaching/pedagogical and motivational resource for students in Geography classes. Considering the technological reality of contemporary society, we sought to justify the relevance of this study. In summary, the analysis of the data produced positive results in relation to the questions proposed by this study - the use of NICTs as a facilitator in the process proved decisive in bringing students closer to and motivating them in Geography classes during the internship.
