Barbara Meyer Bistodeau and guest writers share stories of their youthful days living Behind the Victory Flagpole in the Camden area of North Minneapolis. Originally printed in the Camden Community News, these colorful and captivating stories spark the imagination about the people who grew up in, and who helped create, the Camden Community. The Victory Memorial Drive and Flagpole were historical community anchors for bustling activities. The Victory Memorial Drive dedication on June 11, 1921 (pictured on the cover) was a much awaited glorious celebration. Pictured above are Charles Loring with Loring School students laying a wreath at the base of the Victory Flagpole in 1930.
