A solid woman's read--better than most.

A way above average contemporary woman's novel that has characters who think and act and react like three-dimensional people, set in the very contemporary world of home shopping and infomercials. Murder is a plot by-line, used more to give the characters further reason for development. A surprising and pleasant change from the Grisham and Steele wannabes. A touch of originality and good writing. An author to watch

A delicious blend of betrayal, revenge & murder. The best.

Millions of people the world over are glued to their television sets watching the shopping channels and infomercials. This situation propels Roger Gainey and his spouse Sheila into setting up Media Gains, the production company for their home shopping cable show, PCE-TV (privacy,comfort, and entertainment). The business becomes a success beyond their wildest dreams, but the power and celebrity status change Roger into a superego, who discards his loyal and supportive spouse of twenty years. ......At first, the divorce devastates Sheila, but that soon turns to anger and a feeling of gleeful sense of satisfaction that her company, Media Gains, owes nothing to Roger or PCE since she owns 51 percent of the corporation. She strikes out on her own, putting together deals that Roger covets. She also takes up with his most bitter rival, Derek Lang. It is only when Derek is shot and it appears as if Roger is being set up to take the fall, that Sheila releases her bitterness. She joins her former husband in the quest to uncover the identity of the real murderer, knowing that it is probably someone closely connected to them. .......Rennie Jones has a talent that should turn her into a household name since not many writers have her ability to lay bare the souls of its characters. BEHIND THE SCENE is a clever mystery that concerns itself with why more than who. All the characters are brilliantly developed to the point that readers will mourn the victim's death and pray that the killer is never caught.
