My Fav Psychological Thriller Book

This book was insane! It was a true page turner and I loved all of the twists and turns

Finished it within a day! Impossible to put down

Absolutely hated this book

A lot of mental/emotional cruelty in vivid detail. I don't necessarily have an issue with that but don't love it either. That being said, the story was repetitive and just dragged on. I hate read the final 100 pages. A lot of people really liked this book but I am not among them. I'd give it zero stars if that was an option.

I Was So Upset Reading This!

This book was way better than I expected. I couldn't put it down, and read it in less than 2 days. My emotions were all over the place. I actually teared up at the end. If you are sensitive to domestic violence, you might want to skip this book. Definitely worth 5 stars!

Behind Closed Doors is a very good book. The characters are very real. I did not like the Past and Present chapters. (Just my thought). I like books that tell the story along with what is happening. Other than that, I really like the story. I think it would make a really good movie. I read the book today.

A page turner. A lot of head games played by a husband to his wife & sister-in-law. Wasn’t expecting it to end the way it did, but it had a great twist. Would recommend.

I don't understand

I don't get all the positive reviews. The writing is awful in this book, the characters are not likable (except for maybe Millie), I don't like the story line. I had a hard time getting into this book at the beginning too. Wish I didn't waste my time.

Not the level of NYT best sellers

I search out NYT Bestsellers because they’re usually well written. This book feels like a soap opera. The characters are so dry it’s hard to get attached or engrossed in them. Halfway through it & ready to leave it behind.

Gripping - start to finish

Chilling. Disturbing. I just closed this book and felt compelled to say that the last few lines gave me goosebumps. Interesting take on the past/present approach to storytelling. The Downs character, Millie, was the smartest of 'em all. The premise behind the ending was a little shaky ... but easily overlooked. Will definitely read more by Paris.

I have not read a book this good in a while. The anxiety I felt had me on the edge of my seat gripping my book tight. I read it in 2 days. If you're looking for an amazing thriller look no further.

Excellent!

This book is sooo good!! I read it in just a few days, and would have finished it even more quickly if I didn't feel so guilty for just sitting and reading!! One of my very favorite books, I'm going to look for more books by this author.

Riveting, well written, terrifying

This book grabbed me from the very first page. The author made me care about the characters, but it brought back terrible memories of the abuse in my life. I couldn't finish it, didn't even want it in the house. If you're looking for terror, you need look no further

I was given one of her novels from a friend and told it was a stellar new find! Boy was she correct! I am anxiously awaiting every new book she has to write! She had me hooked from the very start! I was unable to put this book down. She expertly wove the story together of a brilliant, psychotic man who had expertly hand picked his wife and her mentally handicapped sister. The terror he unleashed upon her life has you reeling. This thriller is superbly written and keeps you wanting more.

Try and put this one down!

From page one I was hooked! It was just a WOW book. If this was a debut novel, I can't wait to read everything else the author has written since. Prepare to stay up late reading and when you are not reading, you will be thinking about Grace...guaranteed. Buy it.

Does not disappoint!

I haven’t read a really good book in a long time…… and I judge a book on whether or not I can put it down! I couldn’t ! I just had to find out what happens! Is there anything better ?! I admit the dialogue in the beginning almost put me off as I found it predictable but I’m glad I stuck with it and you will be too.

This was extremely disturbing and well thought out - psychological thriller which makes you think about what really happens in a marriage - especially when things appear to be so perfect!! Couldn't put the book down!!

after I read "The breakdown" by this author I knew I had to read this. I read this book within 24 hours. I was hooked immediately.

Not too bad

While the story itself was great, there was a lack of maturity to the writing. There were several times the story or characters could have been more developed or that the writing could have just been better. Overall, it wasn't horrible, but definitely could have been improved.

This novel is most definitely captivating

B.A.Paris did her thing when writing this book. I could literally feel Jake's character jumping out at me to the point where I to was afraid of him. I loved ester's character as well as Millie's. The ending was amazing, but if you are not concentrating on the novel, it will surely catch you by surprise. I loved how ester comes up with a scenario as to what had " happened " to Jake because she knew from the start what was really happening . This is the first time I ever had characters in a book that I could really feel and connect with. I recommend this book to just about everyone , and this my friend is coming from a 15 year older.
