Run-of-the-mill disaster with a monstrous outcome. 2011 style.

Yes, this is a run-of-the-mill disaster movie. We have all the standard characters. We have the local authority that just does not believe that it is a problem and refuses to warn anyone, as that is not nice. We have the scientist who was wrong once, and of course, everyone knows she is wrong again. We have the ditzy father who rambles but gets to interact with all the town cuties. There is the war hero who just wants to be left to his own. A mysterious government man with a mission for some cabal. And there are many more characters to add some subplots. Let’s not forget the screaming, dumb daughter, as all disaster movies need one.
We get the obnoxious, loud disaster background noise. Includes a few steamy scenes (not gratuitous s-e-x).
No, wait, added to the standard disaster we tossed in is a good guy monster as big as a mountain. He is a tad clumsy and accidentally squishes a few people. People do not become gory monster chow. All he wants to do is correct a few things that might end the world. Is that so bad? Just look at how they treat him.
