This Age of Light is coming to an end, and a new Dark Age must rise to take its place. But, now is not the appointed time, the dark powers of the Coven have moved too soon. The dark stars are not yet risen to herald the changing of the world. So, what is it the Coven have discovered? What power are they so desperate to claim for themselves that they will make their war upon the lands of Men and Dwarves before anyone is ready?
Whatever the witches of the Coven are searching for, it lies beneath the ice of an unknown land, guarded by a secretive and dangerous folk.
But the secret is not so closely guarded as the Coven have supposed. The most unlikely of souls carries a message, written in an unknown language, as she flees her shackles, out of the slave-pits of the orcs. By her side is her only friend and an annoyingly enigmatic little fellow who seems keen to avoid any awkward questions.
So begins the adventure, in search of the answer to the secret, and in search of a place where two escaped slaves might, in the end, find a home.

In part 1, the darkness of the orc-lands is left behind, but the Coven have been working on their plans for some time. Even in the once gentle land of Southold there is darkness and death, but there are also old heroes who have one adventure left in them.
