Lady Sarah of Remy had been labeled the queen's whore - but was this an accurate description or something the court gossips made up? William of Bronwyn had been called a beast and a heartless man but were these lies set out to build a reputation or tear it apart. Both Sarah and William know they are troubled souls but only William knows that when he has compromised Sarah that the marriage they are about to enter into will be one to work and survive despite the horrors they have both known. That is until he discovers that while Sarah may not be a whore she is however a liar and she most is lying to William about what is going on with their relationship and why she agreed to marry him. William had been a slave for too many years, felt the lash upon his back too many times and hungered for his freedom too long to risk his life now on this slip of a woman. But what is it about her that keeps drawing him back into her web of deceit and half-truths. Is she still doing the queen's bidding and is William safe with her as his wife. Before long they are married and traveling toward the home William once knew but had been parted from for too long. His family long since dead he discovers the keep in ruin and his life torn apart by his desire for Sarah and his mis-trust of her. Sarah had known her fair share of pain when her father turned her out at the age of six. She has been with the queen's court for so long and done the queen's bidding that she is unable to say no to any request no matter how wrong or if it will ruin the life she might be able to build with William. But when William unravels all of her stories and finds that the base of their life is a lie will he turn from her or run to her - how will he know if what she says is the truth or another story spun to make him believe that she feels love for him. While on their way to the keep and William's enemies to punish him kidnap Sarah there is nothing that he will not do to free her. He sets about sorting through all that they are to see what they can become. He tries to convince Sarah to finally trust him enough to let go of the lies and see that it is not the queen that is her ally but him. Wonderful story with William a true alpha male and Sarah as a just as strong female. They really keep the action coming and the back story with the other characters never interferes with the main characters. Sarah has left a mark in the other books before this one that not telling her story would have been a crime and one I am very happy to say was not committed.
