Move on to Wholeness

For the woman who works, mothers, relates, volunteers, sits in a pew--and it still isn't enough, "Becoming Complete" may help. Duckworth speaks for the woman fragmented by many roles and relationships. She shows us that our self-esteem may be dependent on other's views of us--family, church, or the world at large. She encourages women to get to know themselves as first loved and accepted by God, then to move on to fully accepting themselves. Wholeness can come as we rest in God's view of us, and we can be free to live lives of "Spirit-filled nonconformity, individual expressions of the nature of God." Duckworth provides insightful questions and exercises that encourage keeping a journal along with reading the book. It can also be studied with a group.
