good book on family communication

this book was reccommended to us by a montessori principal. apparently balson subscribes to alderian psychology. i woould describe it as having been ahead of its time when 1st edition was written. we read 4th edition and found that it was very useful for families where everone is talking. typical themes are such as allowing kids to gain esteem by doing things not being corrected too often; allowing children to attempt solving their own problems; being mindful of the purpose behind various behaviours. seperately when talking about this book to a 3rd party, we received the feedback that m.balson was the teacher they had never forgotten ; the best teacher they ever had - many years before.
