Through Tragedy and Angst, Emerges the Beautiful Being

Bonnie's story is truly amazing. The fact that she was able to accomplish so much in her life after going through so much pain is astounding. In addition, the fact that she was able to take the lessons she learned in her life and use it to help others makes her a truly 'beautiful' being. I would recommend this book for any young woman who has had the misfortune to have to deal with abuse, drug use or violent domestic situations. Bonnie's words of encouragement and her strategically placed biblical proverbs help the reader remember 'the big picture'--so to speak. Her story provides hope and inspiration. Easy read for a bookworm, and also very easy somewhat tailored to preteens or teens who might not be big on reading.
"Becoming Beautiful" is Beautiful

Bonnie Laabs' book is a touching story about her former life as a meth user and her challenges of growing up in (far) less than ideal circumstances. Her book is engaging and is a great read. It's not sappy and she doesn't play the sympathy card, but it does offer hope. This would be a great book for a teenager going down the wrong path, or a parent struggling with a child's drug use. Although the title of the book might imply it's female-oriented, that's not the case. It's completely appropriate for boys or parents of boys.
