How many of you have heard of being a Virtuous woman? Or a Proverbs 31 Woman? What is the definition of virtuous? It means having or showing high moral standards; being righteous, honest, trustworthy, and respectable to give a few examples. Proverbs 31 talks about a virtuous woman. It is a letter written by a mother to her son, King Lemuel. He shares the words from his mother on characteristics that a woman should have as he looks for a wife. As a mom, she wants nothing but the best for her son. I'm also a mom to a son, so I can understand that feeling. She tells her son how a wife should live her life, not only for herself but for her husband, children, and the Lord. This list she gives can be quite intimidating. But it doesn't have to be. We are going to look at Proverbs 31:10-31 and see how we can apply these traits to our own lives. Some believe that a Proverbs 31 woman doesn't exist, I disagree. We will break down these verses to see how we too, can live as a Proverbs 31 woman. While these verses tell us the things a virtuous woman does in daily life, there is another point his mother is making. His mother also wants to tell her son to cherish her. This Proverbs 31 woman does more than what others see; she works late in the evening, and early in the morning. Oh, by the way, King Lemuel's mother also tells him how he should live his life as well, in verses 1-30. I'm not going to go into great length into each character trait. I'm just going keep it simple and short. We can sometimes overanalyze things. Analyzing and studying are good things, but sometimes we can miss the point of something by overthinking.
