This publication is a book written as a small gospel tract. The state of mind in today's world of Christianity is very liberal, and one cannot be a liberal Christian. God demands Christians to be followers of His Word, and that should not be surprising when one considers that the all-powerful, all-knowing God is an infinity above the level of humanity in power and intelligence. In the following verse the apostle Paul warned mankind more than 2,000 years ago that a time like this would come when humanity would not accept truth. 2 Timothy 4:3, "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears." Many "Churches" have become so far removed from truth it is not possible to tell those who profess Christianity from the worldly (non-Christian). The need for a book written as a small tract is to advise those who may be considering becoming a Christian what God expects a person will grow to become as a Christian. Of course, one does not immediately become a mature Christian at the time they repent and are saved, but it is of the utmost in importance to know that once one accepts something that is wrong as right, it becomes far more difficult for them to admit their error, repent and accept right as taught by the following verse. Matthew 23:15, "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves." "Proselyte" in the above verse means "one who has arrived". The meaning is of one who has arrived at believing what the hypocritical scribes and Pharisees were teaching. That person becomes twofold more the child of hell, or far more difficult to turn from their error and accept truth It is the purpose of this book to warn those who are considering Christianity to avoid that pit fall, but is also a warning to those who profess Christianity to look at their own life in light of what the Holy Word of God teaches. Also, Christians are expected to believe the Word of God, The Holy Bible. The all-powerful all-wise God could not fail in His Word; it is the way He communicates His will to mankind. The following verse teaches that if one is going to truly be a Christian, they will study and believe God's Word. John 17:17, "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." To sanctify is to be set apart for the service of God. Sanctification is a life-long process of Growing as a Christian. The above verse is a statement that belief in the Word of God is absolutely necessary in a Christian's life. The following verse is a powerful message on the importance of faith in God's Word as truth. John 14:23, "Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him." No one can become a Christian without faith in Jesus Christ. That is emphasized throughout the entire Bible. Faith in Christ is belief that His crucifixion on the cross in totally sufficient for a person's salvation for all of faith in Him. His willingness to go to the very cruel cross for one's salvation certainly should arouse a great love for Him. Tom Ray
