An Excellent Place to Begin

I have been creating French Beaded work for 4 years. This was my first book. It is true that there aren't a lot of projects layed out, but basic technique is thoroughly explained and illustrated which is an excellent place to begin. With the basic technique taught in this book it is quite easy to move forward into floral self expression. Advanced techniques may be found in other books and a number of project books are available on the market, but I have always held this first book in high regard for helping me master the fundamentals. Pictures of contemporary as well as vintage work provide inspiration. I feel that the combination of good sound basic technique and inspiring photos is a great launching pad for supporting a newbie to explore creating French beaded florals.

Very clear instructions and Great vintage pieces shown

I couldn't wait until I owned a copy of this book! I love the instructions and all of the how-to information. I am currently trying to reproduce the roses on the cover. It is wonderful for learning and inspiration.

An Excellent Resource for French Beading Technique!

This book is an excellent resource for French beading technique, and the written instruction and illustrations are very easy to follow. The selection of vintage flowers included in this book are a great resource, and I have been able to use these images along with the patterns to help me to develop some of my own work. I also really appreciated the high quality of craftsmanship shown in the pattern section. The sample projects show all of the detailing that has gone into finishing the pieces, such as the cord wrapped stems, flower buds, and color selection. I recommend this book to anyone who uses the French beading technique to create beaded flowers.

At last! I can do it!

I have purchased three or four books on beaded flowers prior to this one, and I am excited to have finally found one with clear instructions and good illustrations. The instructions are as basic as you can get, and I was able to make my first petals without any frustration at all. In addition, there are wonderful photographs of both vintage and modern pieces. I have gobbled up every Interweave beading book to date, and with this book they continue their excellent publication record.

At last! I can do it!

I have collected four or five books on the subject of making beaded flowers, and finally I have found one that works for me! The instructions are very basic and easy to understand. The illustrations are very helpful and clear, and the photographs in the "Fundamental Techniques" section are well placed so as to illustrate the technique being described. On top of that, the photographs are inspirational. Included are some beautiful vintage pieces, and many terrific modern works. The last section of the book presents five projects. I have gobbled up every beading book that Interweave Press has put out, and with this one they continue their record of excellent instructional books that also inspire.
