After completing The Stick: A Family's Journey, the author continued to reach into his family and friends' wealth of circumstances to create six stories. In our first tale, The Cottonmouth, unbeknown to the owners a dream house in Florida is shared by a venomous snake. Patch, an exhausted and injured racing pigeon who helps a young couple keep their marriage from failing is our second story. In our third, The Carrot Field, a young boy finds an arrowhead while working on a farm in central Massachusetts. Does it have mystical powers? Chico, is the main character in story number four. He is a lap dog about to be euthanized. Will a last-chance encounter with two rescue dogs save him? A brief college romance ends and resumes years later. Two horses Cash and Bob are central characters in our fifth story as Florida's Stand-Your-Ground law encounters a new dynamic. And our final story, Beach Stones, is about first love in a catastrophic time, and like the eternal beach stones, it lasts forever. These stories are the result of seeds planted from various sources, a friend, a sibling, a daughter, a memory from the author's youth, a grandparent, and a simple walk on the beach. JRM
