As Christians, the Bible tells us to be alert to the attacks of the "evil one", and that when the inevitable attack comes we must resist him (1 Peter 5:8-9). The Bible also makes it clear that in and of ourselves, we cannot win the war against the dark powers that pervade this world. Our ability to resist the devil can only come from the strength and courage that God provides, through our faith in Him. He is our strength. He is our courage. And when we face trials and tribulations, no matter what the outcome, we can rest assured that He will give us strength to endure. And just as God commanded Joshua, "Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go" (Joshua 1:9), we should also take courage in knowing that God is watching over us and protecting us, if we will only rely on Him
