Marcel de Purvois, is a young talented artist from Dijon in France. He is a friend of Frank because of the regular supply of homemade charcoals. However, as an artist so talented he does life and costume sketching and Frank's home and garden becomes a studio. Marcia Beaconsfield, Frank's lover is hardly impressed. However Marcel receives recognition in Dijon and is awarded honours for painting abroad.
