Native New Yorker, Bob Pergament, was a successful entrepreneur prior to becoming a writer. Together with his father, Louis and brother Murray, he built a legendary retail empire from one small hardware store in 1939 to over 40 Pergament Home Centers in the tri-state area- New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. 'Pergament' became a nationwide recognized brand.Robert started as a salesman and cashier with the company at the age of 10. As the family business grew, he held a position of Executive Vice-President of Merchandising, Sales, Marketing and Advertising within the Corporation, and was named a 'marketing genius' of his generation. Pergament is the founder of DIY (Do-it-Yourself) movement in the USA, which turned generations of homeowners into Do-It-Yourselfers.
