Be A Builder With Beah

Be A Builder With Beah is a story about a little girl who discovers a beautifully crafted garden structure and is inspired to design and build a creation of her own. Along the way, she learns all about what architects and builders do, from sketching and designing to learning about power tools and building materials. Through Beah's eyes, readers will discover the wonder and satisfaction of bringing a design to life, facing challenges, and overcoming obstacles with the support of a loving parent. This story celebrates the joy of hands-on building, the empowerment of learning new skills, and the spark that can ignite a child's creativity and passion for design. This story was created to empower young readers, especially girls, to explore the world of architecture and construction. Beah's final project inspires her neighbors to build their own projects, planting the seeds for the next generation of designers and makers. This book is an exciting exploration of the design process that will leave readers eager to find their own inner architect and become builders too! BONUS: Step-by-step woodworking project inside! About the Author! Nicole Coker found her passion for design and construction while studying at Clemson University's School of Architecture. The initial spark happened when she joined the Clemson Community Build Program in Charleston, South Carolina, where she was a part of designing and building garden structures for local nonprofits in the low country. While in this program, she fell in love with using power tools, welding, and designing for local communities in need. Since then, Nicole has gained her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Master of Architecture from Clemson University. Since graduating, she has had the honor to return to her alma mater to teach foundational architecture studios as a lecturer. Nicole created this story to empower young readers, especially girls, to explore the world of architecture and construction and feel inspired to build something of their own. With women making up only 24% of registered architects and just 10% of the construction industry in the US, Nicole hopes that stories like this one will ignite positive change and encourage girl builders everywhere.
