Jacques is a young man of privilege who sets out to explore land west of Colonial New Orleans in the 1700 - 1800's. Amongst war and ever-changing social climates, Jacques is determined to build a name for himself apart from his successful father. He settles in the Attakapas district along the winding path of Bayou Moss amongst Indigenous Atakapa and other tribes, French, German, and other settlers. Jacques quickly learns that establishing himself in a rural, slowly developing area is not as easy as he thought it would be for him. Through failures, heartbreak, and triumph, Jacques fights through both the wilderness of the area and his own heart.
