A Different Path...

During a late night walk on a familiar street, I felt as if I was being led to a certain house on the block and as usual, it was the only house with porch lights on. This house always appears to be inviting and welcoming but the feeling on the inside tells me to run, run far, far away. I want to run but my feet keep moving in the direction of the house. Something about this house seems to have some sort of hold on me...I know this house?....somehow?....my childhood Things happened in this house, horrible things, things I wouldn't wish on anyone. But wait, I'm over all that "So, Why am I here? Why am I at this house?" I whispered.

Bast is a creatively written story inspired by the writer's childhood. It is a colorful story that produces different sensations of various experiences surrounding her life. Driven by trauma-induced emotions Bast sets out on the hunt to prevent traumas like hers from happening to others but it does not end there. Bast becomes a friend who nurtures, protects, and who defends. She sees the world through colors that reflect her challenging life.
