Basic knowledge of agricultural policy

The area of agricultural policy using Austria as an example includes framework conditions and phases, actors and changes in policy content in EU policy. In this context, the industrialization of agriculture with the pursuit of profit and the pressure to rationalize affects agricultural structures that damage soil, air and water. There is sometimes a lack of knowledge about the effects of use. Ecological aspects must be presented in the context of political education. The consequences of landscape impoverishment require a rethink in the interests of people and the environment. An important part of the function of agricultural policy concerns the national and international food supply of the population. Another aspect concerns the development of rural areas. For civic education in the implementation of teaching, the dimension of global learning arises as an element of the development of a European economic area.
