A guide to Biblical theology

Christians today find themselves in an environment where information of all types is easily and readily accessible. Most all subjects are open for the reading with a simple click of a mouse. In these times the Christian must be more discerning and grounded in Biblical faith than ever before. It is in this environment that Basic Bible Doctrines by Michael Gowens shines the brightest.BBD brings out the truth of the scripture plainly, and one page at the time. Most systematic theologies are weighty and can take great amounts of time and experience to work through. However, BBD brings forth these same concepts with a readable and accessible nature that laymen can easily understand. If you are looking for a book that makes the difficult doctrines of scripture come alive to the glory of Christ, look no further than Basic Bible Doctrines. No Christian library is complete without a copy.

Beginner or Seasoned Theologian

In a world full of poorly shaped theologies, Gowens does a remarkable job of covering the basic doctrines of the Christian faith in comprehendible and useful terms. Systemic theologies are typically too complex and wordy for the beginning student, or so simplistic that they are of little instructional value. I have found this book helpful as I seek to teach young Christians, and a refreshing tool for the more mature Christian. The book has become a "standard" in my teaching process, and with his quotes, I no longer struggle to find the "right way" to say what I want to communicate. Also, for the person who is not familiar with the classic, reformed view of doctrines (generally styled 'Calvinism'), this book presents a wonderful lens by which to study the Doctrines of Grace. I highly recommend the book.
