I had high hopes for this book. As part of my on-going effort to make more information available to people looking to buy these older needlepoint books, this is my review of it. Yes, what the book offers is well done but it's scope is very narrow. The emphasis is on one type of Bargello Border only, the rope or twine design. That is done and described and taught well but that is, for all practical purposes, all there is. Version after version of that same border. I wish they had taken it further. There is so much more to Bargello and the possibilities for Bargello Borders then you will see here.
Better than average

This book was obviously written by instructors. It takes you by the hand and leads you step-by-step through the design and construction of dozens and dozens of bargello pieces. It discusses repeats, compensation, resizing patterns, designing problems, etc. I understand that it's hard to find and may be expensive through the second-hand dealers. But you must have a birthday, anniversary, or something coming up soon. Don't you?
