INTRODUCTIONThis little booklet is my way of disseminating what I consider a very critical concept: that those areas of the world which suffer from medical shortages can develop the solutions themselves. My goal is to train medical personnel to provide quality medical care at low cost using two basic skills: personal knowledge and wisdom, and the power of the Internet. Areas of the world that lack basic medical care of necessity lack access to specialists. While the idea of Barefoot Doctors has been running around in my brain for about four years, the use of Artificial Intelligence to address the specialist shortage is a new concept, one developed since I originally came to Nicaragua to teach medical English to Spanish-speaking students.
