Barcelona: Portrait of a City

Bys: Rafael Canogar. and Miguel A. Muñoz Palós.

A deep exploration of the Catalonian capital past and present, captured by masterful photographers

Featuring nearly 300 photographs from the 19th century to the present, this revised edition of the 2015 publication is a stunning celebration of Barcelona and its people, offering a portrait of the city through the lens of multiple generations. The images by local photographers such as Catala-Roca, Colita, Pom s and Masats and international greats such as Erwitt, Koudelka and Parr are accompanied by text that contextualizes them historically. Dramatic images by Cartier-Bresson, Gerda Taro and Chim during the Civil War contrast with more recent work by Colita and Miserachs, and with the sophistication and glamor of Richard Avedon and Helmut Newton. Famed figures make appearances as well: Picasso, Mir , Dal , Ava Gardner, Garc a M rquez, Cort zar and others are captured in this beautiful tribute to Barcelona's cultural history. This is an unrivaled exploration of a city that has inspired and will continue to inspire anyone who visits.
