New take on the best of Barbra

Candid, balanced and extremely well-written, this is the best book for detailed but riveting, you-are-there accounts on the making of the best (and worst) of Striesand's records films up tp Yentl. Previous review by Jon Sieruga makes the casual assumption that the author, Shaun Considine, wasn't close to Streisand, except on the sets of two movies. Completely missing the point made in the Preface to the book - where it's clearly stated that during the 1960s at Columbia Records, Considine was the coordinator for all of the hit singles and albums Streisand released during that incredible period. The stories behind the creation and marketing of those musical gems are well worth the price of this book.
